A better postgame routine for baseball uniforms
Make room for dirt, white pants, team jerseys, and a long tournament weekend.
Baseball laundry is rarely just one jersey. There are pants from the field, socks, undershirts, and a team top that needs to be ready again. Set up the routine around those different jobs rather than treating the whole bag as a single load.
Inspect the uniform before the washer
Empty pockets and remove anything that is not part of the washable garment. Look at the knees, cuffs, and seat of the pants so you know which areas need attention. Remove loose surface debris without scrubbing or stretching delicate fabric, then follow the garment and stain-treatment instructions.
Keep the glove out of the laundry plan
A leather glove, batting gloves, a structured cap, and a jersey can have very different care rules. Set specialist equipment aside and use its maker’s directions. Detergent intended for clothing is not a reason to soak a glove or run a cap through a machine.
Prepare for the doubleheader
Before a tournament, check which uniform pieces you have in reserve and when you can realistically wash and dry them. Numbered laundry bags can help a family or team keep track of socks and undershirts. Give the next game’s kit its own clean, dry spot instead of returning everything to the same bag.
