It started in a boxing gym.
One of us was training in a grungy boxing gym. His good gear kept ending up at the bottom of the hamper, and it picked up a smell no wash could get out. Nice clothes, wrecked by the funk.

So he soaked it.
He started soaking the gear in a mix he was putting together at home. The funk lifted. The water turned brown with everything the wash had left behind. That soak became Revive, and it proved the whole idea.
Four of us, one mission.
He pulled in three others. From the start the plan was bigger than detergent: build something that could earn the means to back the boxers, teams, and gyms that raise athletes. Give back, on purpose, from day one.
Built in a basement.
We built it ourselves in a basement in Atlanta. Mixed the batches by hand, ran the loads, boxed the orders, nights and weekends, our own money in. Slow on purpose.
One formula, many audiences.
Performance, Revive, and Greenside are live, with more on the way. Now headquartered in Milledgeville, Georgia, building it with partners, and funding the mission through FRESH50.

The research
What touches your skin matters.
We left fragrance and harsh surfactants out because of what we read, not a hunch. You wear athletic fabric for hours and sweat in it, which is exactly when your skin takes in the most. A few of the findings.
22×the safe limit
Sports bras have tested high for BPA.
Independent testing found sports bras and athletic shirts that could expose the wearer to up to 22 times California's safe limit for BPA, a hormone-disrupting chemical. Later rounds reached 40 times.

Heat and sweat multiply what your skin takes in.
Warming skin from 25°C to 39°C raised how much passed through it by 202 to 275 percent over three hours. That is the exact state of a workout.

In human and mouse skin, laundry-detergent residue reduced the skin's protective barrier, and detergents with 15 to 30 percent surfactant did the most damage. We clean with enzymes, not those surfactants.
