01 What is Athlete Fresh?

Performance laundry care built for the gear regular detergent can't handle. Activewear, golf polos, hunting layers, work clothes. The fabrics built to wick sweat are the same fabrics that trap body oil, bacteria, and detergent residue, which is why the smell comes back the moment you warm up.

Our system is two stages. A five-ingredient, plant-derived enzyme formula cleans completely in the wash. Then natural scent gets added separately in the dryer, never bonded into the fabric. Clean first. Scent second. That order is the whole point.

02 Why does my "clean" gear still smell?
It's not you. It's buildup.

Performance fabric is a tight synthetic knit. Big-brand detergents were built for cotton, so they clean the surface and leave thickeners and synthetic fragrance behind. That fragrance is designed to cling to fabric, and when it bonds in, it seals body oil and odor compounds in with it.

Your gear smells fine out of the dryer and terrible twenty minutes into a workout because heat reactivates everything still trapped in the fibers. Enzymes break that buildup down and rinse it out instead of covering it up. Nothing left behind means nothing to reactivate.

03 If the detergent is unscented, how do my clothes smell good?

The scent comes in the dryer, not the wash. Our Dryer Drops, essential oils for your wool dryer balls, add a clean, natural scent after the fabric is actually clean. It sits where scent belongs instead of being chemically bonded into the fibers with whatever the wash didn't remove.

Prefer no scent at all? Skip the drops. The detergent finishes completely neutral.

04 What's actually in the formula?
Five ingredients. That's it.

Plant-derived enzymes that target the specific stuff performance fabric traps: sweat, body oil, and odor-causing bacteria. No synthetic fragrance, no fillers, no thickeners, no residue film left on the fibers.

Athlete Fresh is proudly sourced and made in the USA.

05 Do I use this with my regular detergent, or instead of it?
Instead. Full replacement.

Athlete Fresh is a complete detergent, not a booster. Use it on its own. In fact, mixing it with conventional detergent works against you, because you'd be adding back the exact fragrance and filler residue the enzymes are there to remove.

06 How much do I use, and how many loads per bag?

One dose per load. Every bag is 60 uses for $29.99, which works out to about $0.50 per load. Less than most premium detergents that are actively leaving residue in your gear.

And no, doubling the dose doesn't double the clean. Excess detergent of any kind leaves residue. One dose, every wash, is the system working as designed.

07 Does it work in cold water and HE machines?

Yes and yes. Enzymes are most at home in cold water, which also happens to be what your technical fabric care tags ask for. It runs clean in standard and high-efficiency machines.

Cold wash, low or no heat dry. Your gear lasts longer and your power bill says thank you.

08 Can I still use fabric softener and regular dryer sheets?
Please don't.

Fabric softener and conventional dryer sheets coat fabric in wax. On a towel that feels nice. On performance fabric it clogs the breathable knit, kills the wicking you paid for, and traps odor underneath. There's a reason your activewear tags say no softener and no dryer sheets.

Our Dryer Drops exist precisely because of that problem: natural scent delivered in the dryer, designed for technical fabric, no wax coating doing damage.

09 My gear already smells. Is it too late?
That's literally why Revive exists.

Not too late. Revive is our original restore soak, and it's the reset button. Bucket or sink, no machine needed. It breaks down the months or years of trapped compounds that no regular wash cycle touches, and brings tired gear back to life.

Then keep it that way with your Athlete Fresh detergent on every regular wash. Revive restores. The detergent maintains.

10 Which Athlete Fresh is right for me?

Every detergent runs the same five-ingredient enzyme system. The vertical matches the gear and the life it lives:

  • Performance is the all-sport flagship. If you're not sure, start here.
  • Greenside for golf. Grass stains, cart grime, and polos that stay clubhouse-clean.
  • Studio for athleisure and boutique fitness. Gentle on luxury and technical fabrics.
  • BackCountry for hunting and the outdoors. Zero scent profile, nothing follows you into the field.
  • Workhorse for the trades. Coming soon.
  • Revive isn't a detergent. It's the pre-wash restore soak for gear that needs rescuing first.
11 Will it get the yellow pit stains out of my polos?

Those yellow stains aren't sweat alone. They're sweat plus body oil plus aluminum from antiperspirant, layered in and then sealed under detergent residue, wash after wash. Fragrance detergents make them worse because they keep adding to the seal.

Our enzymes are built to break that exact buildup down. For fresh staining, regular washes with Greenside or Performance do the work. For deep-set, years-old yellowing, soak in Revive first, then wash. Stop the seal, and the stains stop building.

12 Can I wash hockey and lacrosse gear with it?

Everything machine-washable, absolutely: jerseys, base layers, socks, pad liners, anything the manufacturer says can hit the wash. That's where the worst of the funk lives, and an enzyme clean with zero added fragrance is exactly what rink gear needs, because masking that smell was never going to work anyway.

Hard equipment like helmets and skates should follow the manufacturer's care instructions. And air everything out after every session. Bacteria love a closed bag.

13 Is BackCountry actually scent-free enough to hunt in?
Zero scent. Zero trace.

BackCountry is built with a certified zero scent profile, no UV brighteners, and no residue. That last part matters more than most hunters realize: regular detergent leaves optical brighteners that make your camo glow in the UV spectrum game animals can see, and fragrance that carries downwind.

BackCountry leaves nothing on the fabric. Nothing to smell, nothing to see, nothing to follow you into the field.

14 What is FRESH50?

Our giving program, and it runs two ways. First, we donate 5% of revenue from every vertical to causes aligned with that sport and community. When you buy Greenside, golf gives back. When you buy BackCountry, conservation gives back. It's built into the price, not added to it.

Second, teams and organizations can fundraise directly through FRESH50 and earn up to 50% on every order placed through their link. Full details live on the FRESH50 page.
