Cheer uniform care starts before the wash

Cheer laundry can range from a simple practice shirt to a competition uniform with trim, mesh, printed details, or embellishments. Treating those as different care categories is the starting point for a sensible routine.

Check competition pieces individually

Read the maker’s instructions for each uniform piece. Embellishments, specialty fabrics, and construction may call for hand washing or professional care, and may rule out soaking. Follow those directions even when your everyday training clothes have an easy machine-wash routine.

Keep accessories separate

Remove items that are meant to come off, such as bows or detachable accessories, following the uniform instructions. Give shoes and specialist accessories their own care plan. Do not place them in a clothing load simply because they were used at the same practice.

Prepare a complete event kit

Before a competition weekend, check that every clean piece is present and ready. Keep practice wear in a different place so the event set stays easy to identify. After returning, sort the bag fully and flag repairs or missing accessories before the next event.
