Empty the jersey completely

Look through every rear pocket for wrappers, cards, and tools. Separate items that need specialist care, including shoe covers, gloves, and rain layers. Check the maker’s instructions for fastening zips and protecting delicate fabrics in the wash.

Treat bib shorts as their own care decision

The fabric and padded insert may have specific washing and drying requirements. Follow those directions and use only compatible products. Do not assume that a soaking routine suitable for a basic training shirt is suitable for padded cycling kit.

Keep the commute manageable

For regular commuting, plan the number of clean sets you need before laundry day and where worn kit will go at each end of the ride. Carry the return-trip clothing separately from used gear when possible. At home, unpack everything so it can be cleaned and dried before the next trip.
