Separate the kit: a better lacrosse laundry routine

Handle jerseys, base layers, and protective equipment as different cleaning jobs.

Lacrosse combines washable clothing with equipment that may include padding, hard shells, straps, and other materials. The easiest mistake is treating the bag as one category. Begin by separating the clothing from everything that needs specialist care.

Make two clear groups

Sort jerseys, shorts, socks, and washable base layers first. Put protective equipment, gloves, and footwear in a separate area. Check the manufacturer’s instructions for each item rather than extending a clothing-care recommendation to the entire kit.

Inspect the uniform details

Look at printed numbers, team decoration, and fasteners before washing. Use compatible loads and the care settings on the actual garment. If your kit includes removable parts, take them out only as the manufacturer directs, and keep track of where they belong.

Set up the next practice before storing the bag

Once everything is clean and fully dry, check that the next kit is complete. A simple written list is helpful for younger players or anyone juggling practice and game sets. Keep the clothing ready separately while equipment finishes its own care process.

Your next-session checklist

  • Separate clothes from protective gear.
  • Check labels and removable parts.
  • Follow equipment-specific instructions.
  • Repack a complete, dry kit.

Build your laundry routine

Start with the care label on each item and the directions on your detergent. Athlete Fresh Performance is a complete, unscented detergent for washable training clothes. Use the labeled dose and only on compatible fabrics. Revive is an optional restore soak where the garment instructions allow soaking; it is not an automatic step for every uniform or piece of equipment.
