The soccer kit reset: jerseys, socks, and the gear between games
Keep match kits and practice clothes organized without treating every item the same.
Soccer kits share a bag with shin guards, boots, water bottles, and often a damp training bib. Separating those items is the first useful step toward a better laundry routine, especially when the next session is already on the calendar.
Separate the kit from the equipment
Put the shirt, shorts, socks, and washable layers together for inspection. Shin guards, boots, and bags need their own manufacturer-approved care. Removable parts should only come off when the equipment instructions say they can.
Protect the team details
Check care instructions around crests, names, and printed numbers. Wash compatible pieces according to their labels and avoid adding an extra product simply to create more scent. Measure detergent as directed; a stronger fragrance is not a substitute for following the cleaning instructions.
Organize the weekly rotation
Keep match-day items separate from the clothes used for informal training. If multiple players share a household, label where each clean kit belongs. On a travel day, carry worn clothing apart from the next clean set and unpack it as soon as practical after the trip.
Your next-session checklist
- Empty the bag after play.
- Set boots and guards aside.
- Check crests and printed details.
- Prepare the next full kit, including socks.
Build your laundry routine
Start with the care label on each item and the directions on your detergent. Athlete Fresh Performance is a complete, unscented detergent for washable training clothes. Use the labeled dose and only on compatible fabrics. Revive is an optional restore soak where the garment instructions allow soaking; it is not an automatic step for every uniform or piece of equipment.
